Where are we now?

Emma- Secondary Science

Class of 2019

Service Name

Since graduating, I have been lucky enough to embrace a range of opportunities within teaching. I began employment in my training school, focusing on honing my classroom practice and profile as a member of staff. As my experience grew, I mentored two trainee science teachers within the Teach in Kent programme, as well as a student teacher on placement from Australia. I found I enjoyed being a mentor! I sought further opportunities at a local Grammar School to provide fresh challenge. I was successful in an application for Head of House- allowing me to gain more experience pastorally. I also decided to expand on my initial passion of pedagogy and mentoring, by completing an NPQLT and mentoring another trainee teacher. I have recently been appointed as Deputy Subject Leader- an invaluable insight to the “behind the scene” work that goes in to running a successful department.

Oliver- Secondary Computing

Class of 2020

Service Name

After completing my training, I joined my placement school as a Teacher of Computing. Since then, I have taken on additional responsibilities leading whole-school digital strategy and delivering professional development to staff. Alongside my school role, I became a certified Professional Development Lead for the Computing Hubs programme, delivering training to teachers across the country. This year I also mentored a trainee teacher for the first time, a full-circle moment showing the progress I’ve made since my own training.
From September 2025, I will be stepping into a new role as Head of Digital Teaching & Learning and Head of Computer Science. I’m excited to lead a department while continuing to shape digital practice on a whole-school level. As part of the Extended Senior Leadership Team I will have increased responsibilities and I look forward to seeing how the next stage of my career progresses.

Lauren- Secondary Science

Class of 2020

Service Name

I graduated in 2020 with outstanding results in all areas and was honoured to receive the 'Student of the Year' award from Dan Wise.
Following graduation, I remained at my home school, Greenacre Academy, where I continued teaching Science. After completing my NPQ, I progressed to the role of Second in Charge (2iC) of Science.
After five years at Greenacre, I transitioned to the Leigh UTC in September 2024. In October 2024, I began my NPQ in SENCO, which I am on track to complete by April 2026.
Since May 2025, I have taken on the full responsibilities of the SENCO role. In addition, I serve as the EAA Lead Coordinator while continuing to teach Science.
